I have been painting for the better part of the last four days. We are doing a basement renovation that we would like to have done before Christmas. Well... that was the plan anyway. It doesn't feel like it will happen. Who knew it would take so long to paint!! It is not the big an area. But between priming, painting, trimming and all the other things I have do to fill my day (like my real job!) 98% of it is now done, but I still have up the stair way which is going to take some time and probably two coats. I really wish the painting fairies would show up while I sleep.
Speaking of sleep I have gotten some in the last two days, I thought I was in trouble last night, wide awake at 3am, after going to bed after midnight, but I kept concentrating on my breathing and I fell back to sleep. A lot of my friends have recommended having a drink, I might try that on the weekend.
Christmas is looming large now, 15 days away. I have some gifts bought but mainly I still have lots to do!! Once next Thursday rolls around I am on vacation until Jan 06, so that will be a nice break from teaching. However I will be working on re-writing my four foundation classes for the Jan session and working on my novel writing course (which I am really excited about!!).
Time to relax with some Chicago Fire!

This and That
I am wide awake and I should be asleep. Was it something I ate? I have been working since 7:30 a.m. I got lots of things done, but yes my to do list still is quite full. That is no different so why am I awake. What else is there to do but start a new blog. .. sounds like a reasonable response.
It has been quite a year: I got to take two things off my bucket list
1) I spent some time competing with my dog at sheep herding trials - strike standing at the post and saying "Away to me" off my list - DONE. It was really fun, I can't wait to do more!
2) I visited Spain (our future home ! whole other post for later). DONE We had a great time and got to see quite a bit of east and southern coast. Next time Barcelona and down to Alicante - yes I am already planning.
My new book is almost done, it is currently in the layout stages and hopefully will be out early to mid January. I learned quite a bit about how hard it is to self publish, meeting deadlines is a pain in the a** and so easy to let slip by!
My son started High School, he's fine and loving it - I still can't believe that I have a kid in high school AND he is taller than me - he is also taller than his dad too!
I am taking a novel writing course and I am really excited about it!
For next year we have two vacations planned, I will point out that there is a big difference between planning and paying for..
We would like to go to Mexico for March Break, to an all inclusive resort. We have never done a resort before and thought it would be fun and hopefully bridge the gap from winter to spring. Also in the fall Chad and I would like to go to Jamaica - it will be our 20th anniversary and the first time we will have taken a vacation like that with no dogs or kid. What will we do with ourselves?? It will be fun to find out!
